IMI has developed long-term relationships and holds multi-year contracts with suppliers located in North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. IMI has secured exclusive marketing rights for certain materials and enjoys a preferred position with many suppliers because of our reputation and proven marketing performance.
IMI charters vessels regularly with owners and operators across all vessel segments. These owners and operators include Norden, Cosco, Oldendorff, Pacific Basin, Clipper, J. Lauritzen, United Bulk Carriers, ED&F Man, Gearbulk, Western Bulk Carriers, Phoenix Bulk Carriers, Navesco, Ultrabulk, GSS, GBSMT and over 35 others. Our > 400 charters per year include multi-year Contracts of Afreightment and single spot voyages under charter parties. IMI charters and manages Handymax, Supramax, Coasters, and Panamax vessels with deadweight tonnages ranging from 5,000 – 90,000 metric tons.

IMI has developed extensive capabilities in ship loading and discharging operations, import/export operations, logistics planning and management, and supply management. Our traffic team oversees the loading and discharging of vessels to ensure the timely and cost effective movement of material. IMI employs a global network of port captains and operations managers at various ports worldwide. The majority of IMI’s trades are CIF or plant-delivered, where IMI’s team acts as our customers' international procurement department by managing all logistical arrangements from load port operations through vessel, barge, rail or truck delivery to the customer’s site.
